The cultural affairs of the city of Le Lavandou or that of Cavalaire have already organized several exhibitions of the works of Alain Suby who, after having lived, studied and traveled around the world, has  settled in this commune for a few years. This event, scheduled in the cultural space of Le Lavandou and then at the Maison de la Mer in Cavalaire, brings together collages, wallpaper, paintings on paper and cardboard, sculptures, made between 1973 and 2009. If it were necessary to establish a quick identification sheet, one would briefly mention: Alain Suby, painter, engraver, sculptor, graduate of the École nationale des Beaux-arts de Paris and of the University of Berkeley in the United StatesUnis, a resident of the French Academy at the Villa Médicis in Rome from 1973 to 1975, exhibited in France and abroad. Why an autumn exhibition of this contemporary sculptor, engraver and painter in the city of dolphins, in a place that presents, since its creation, tributes to great artists who have died, such as Doisneau, Van Rysselberghe and Fossali? Installed on the commune of Le Lavandou for many years, Alain Suby is also a component of the heritage of this town very attached to its history and its creators. The cultural service of the city is happy to rediscover to Lavandourans and residents of the region, as well as tourists who will frequent the resort on the occasion of their passage, this discreet man, always in activity, who has hung his work alongside the greatest. On the occasion of this exhibition, the host city publishes a catalogue bringing together the four-colour reproductions of the works presented, as well as texts evoking the artist’s research.
