La Croix-Valmer village (3500 inhabitants) is right on the Maures cliff road in the bay of , located in between and With its 7 beach of natural fine sand, streched over 6 km, Croix Valmer is known for the quality of its bathing waters. It has a protected nature park, with beautiful walks such as the "sentier des douaniers" (customs officer's path), that goes from Gigaro's beach to Cap Lardier. The name "Croix-Valmer" comes from the Emperor Constantin who was going to fight his brother-in -law Maxence, in AD 312, after he had a vision of a cross in the sky with the sign « in hoc signo vinces ». In 1893, a stone cross was erected where the tradition set this apparition. In 1934, after belonging to Gassin, Croix-Valmer became an independant town. There you can find ancestral places such as the Briande Dolmen and the roman farm Pardigon (IIIrd century BC). In 1945 the beaches were a strategic place of the .
