The town of Cavalaire-sur-Mer (5500 inhabitants) is located between Saint-Tropez and Lavandou on the southern bay of the Var French Riviera . Its long and beautiful beach, its inlets East of the Cap Cavalaire (Bonporteau, Nasque), all make the reputation of this sea resort, overlooked by the Pradels assembly line. It is a paradise for the sailing amateur, its modern harbor, of a capacity of 1.230 spaces is protected and easily accessible. It has its owns helicopter runway. As the climate is mild and sunny year- round, Cavalaire is the ideal place for tourism escapades : Levant islands, Porquerolles and Port Cros. During summer, at nightfall, the streets and outdoor coffee shops are very animated. From one square to another you can enjoy outdoor concerts and shows. In 1929 Cavalaire was no longer dependent of Gassin and the village was located on the old railway Saint-Raphael-Toulon (also named Train des Pignes). We can still follow the old railway (from Lavandou to Saint-Raphael). The village has also been the place of important military actions during the Allies landing in Provence during World War II : each year on August 15th there are a military procession and a reenactment of the camps.
