Town of 10.000 inhabitants, located between the sea and the forest, 20 kms along the mediterranean coast, Bormes les Mimosas is referenced among the most  beautiful French locations, often compared to a provencal nativity scene, thanks to its old village: old houses covered by pink roof tiles, flowery back-alley, fountains, ramparts and castles ruins. The old medieval village offers a beautiful panoramic view of the field and the Iles d’Or (Golden Islands). Discover the Faviere area with its port and marina located around the Honor square. Further away, after crossing the pine forest and the vineyards in a wild and protected environment, you will appreciate the beaches of Cabasson, Estagnol, Pellegrin and Faviere. In Cabasson, an old fishermen village, you can find the famous Bregancon fort (on a peninsula). Bormes les Mimosas is a good place for trekking, cycling and equestrian hikes thanks to its natural, authentic and preserved environment between the littoral path, the field, the vineyards and the massif des Maures (Dom forest). The medieval town is  appreciated for the richness of its flora (more than 700 varieties of plants and flowers, 60 varieties of mimosas). The town is also classified as “climatic resort » since 1913, awarded « 4 flowers » since 1970, « grand national prize of flowers » in 2000 and gold medal-winner in the european contest of the cities and towns in bloom in 2003. Bormes les Mimosas is nice place to  discover all year round. Its particularity (the mimosas) gave Bormes the title of Mimosas capital in the Var area. It is also the point of departure for the Mimosa Road that you can discover from January to March from Bormes to Grasse (130 km). Place to visit: The Saint Trophyme church, built in the 18th century, its architecture is inspired by the roman. It is located near the George Pompidou square. There are numerous religious edifices in Bormes such as the Saint Francois chapel and Notre-Dame de Constance chapel. A beautiful hike at 324 meters can be done by the GR90. |
